Home Share Services

Home Share is a flexible support option where an adult with a developmental disability lives with a person, couple, or family who provides individualized support in a shared home environment.
Western Human Resource continues to expand Home Share services across the province. This model focuses on carefully matching individuals with Home Share providers so that living arrangements reflect compatible lifestyles, interests, and support needs.
Key elements of Home Share include:
- Careful screening: All potential Home Share providers go through thorough safety and suitability checks, including criminal record checks and home assessments. Providers must be at least 19 years of age, and the home must be approved as a safe and supportive living environment.
- Individualized support: Home Share providers assist with daily living, social connection, and community participation while encouraging independence. Supports are tailored to each person’s unique needs, including medical or behavioural considerations when required.
- Ongoing monitoring and support: Western Human Resource regularly monitors Home Share arrangements to ensure safety, quality care, and alignment with CLBC standards. We also support providers in responding to challenges or emergencies.
Home Share is about more than receiving a service — it is about sharing everyday life. Individuals and providers build meaningful relationships while creating a supportive home environment that encourages independence, belonging, and connection to the community.
Many people find Home Share to be a deeply rewarding and enriching experience for everyone involved.
