As a support worker you will support individuals with developmental disabilities to contribute within their community, their home and their workplace.  There are 2 classifications of work:

Residence Worker (RW)

Supporting individuals to gain and maintain skills to be utilized in their home, and to support health and safety, personal relationships and realizing their dreams.

Community Support Worker (CSW)

Supporting individuals to connect and contribute in their community by being an active member and participant through volunteerism, employment and recreation.

A few things that you will need to work:

  • Clear criminal record check conducted through the Solicitor General’s office
  • Class 4 restricted BC Driver’s license
  • Valid, current First Aid certificate/CPR certificate

To be obtained once an offer of employment has been made by WHRC

  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Confirmation of a good driving record (Driver’s Abstract)
  • Tuberculosis screening and Record of Immunizations
  • Doctors Certificate of good health
