Community Inclusion

In British Columbia, community inclusion means ensuring that people of all abilities and backgrounds can fully participate in their communities and in their own lives. Everyone has the right to belong, to be valued, and to live life on their own terms.
Western Human Resource recognizes this right and works alongside individuals to help make it a reality. Our Community Inclusion programs focus on identifying and removing barriers so people can pursue their goals, build relationships, and participate in their communities in ways that are meaningful to them.
Our supports are person-centered, meaning they are guided by each person’s interests, strengths, and choices.
Common areas of support include:
- Supporting people to live in regular homes and neighborhoods
- Assisting with employment goals, including resume building, job coaching, volunteering, and exploring meaningful work opportunities
- Helping individuals build and maintain friendships and social networks
- Supporting access to community spaces and activities such as libraries, parks, recreation programs, and local events
- Developing life skills and independence through one-to-one or small group activities
- Promoting dignity, respect, and self-advocacy so people can make choices about their own lives
Community Inclusion support helps people build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections while safely exploring and participating in their communities.
